Hey
Hey :) do you go to McKinley?
Yeah. My name’s Donnie. You’re Kurt’s boyfriend right? I saw you at prom last year. You going here now too?

Hey, I don’t think we’ve met before. I’m Blaine.
Oh hey, you’re Kurt’s boyfriend, right? I recognize you from prom last year. How’s it going?
Yes, yes I am. You and Kurt are friends, I’m guessing? Cool!
It’s going pretty well for me, actually. The hallways are becoming quite the obstacle course for me, though… I’m not the best with directions.
Ah, that’s ok. I’m always happy to help the directionally challenged. My name’s Donnie, by the way. I only know Kurt a little. I’m not part of Glee, so he and I don’t cross paths too much. It’s a shame really. I hope that McKinley is being kind to you. It’s not really known for it’s hospitality.

Right back at you. I heard you’re the new kid. Welcome to McKinley, make yourself at home.
Yeah thanks! What’s your name?
My names Donnie. So tell me, how do you like Lima so far? Made many friends?
Hey, um yeah lima’s okay. I’ve met some nice people.
Well that’s a pretty good start if you ask me.

Lavender had finished her yogurt almost as soon as she got it. Listening intently to Donnie. “It’s strange I know, but I’ve only gotten slushied a few times.” she shrugged, “It’s the experience I guess, there is one thing though.” Lavender laughed, “I want to be Prom Queen!” she scrunched her nose playfully. “Mainly because a girl like me would never get Prom Queen, so it could either A be totally cliche if I win or B I’ll loose and that’ll just be life.” Lavender leaned back in her chair messing with her haltered dress. “It’ll be fun though, trying something knew, I used try new things all the time. Oh and I forgot to tell you, that yes, there wasn’t alot of bullying, atleast not as major as at Mckinley, except if you were gay, then there was some bullying.” Lavender shrugged.
Donnie paused at the last comment. Of all the things that he had seen happen at McKinley, the bullying of Kurt Hummel was one of the worst. Nobody, except maybe that glee club of his, had realized how bad it was until he left. He didn’t know what Lavender’s opinion of the subject was, though.
“That’s too bad,” he said. He had finished off his froyo and threw it away. “I’ve managed to not get slushied once. But others here haven’t been so lucky. Especially that glee club. Man have they got it bad. And if any of them happen to stand out…” He sighed.

“An admirable goal for sure,” Donnie said in response to her explanation. “Plain tart with gummy-bears, rainbow sprinkles, and fudge.” They paid for their food and found a table.
“I get wanting the whole high school experience thing, but I can’t imagine doing it all in one year. There’s the whole ‘personal growth’ or whatever we’re supposed to get out of the torture that is K through 12th grade. How do you plan on doing that? Joining clubs?”
Donnie dug into his froyo with glee. It had been a while since he’d had any reason to get some. His friend were all off to university, his brother was off god knows where, and his sister was interning in Los Angeles. And going out like this was no fun without company.
Lavender smiled “Someone likes sugar.” she laughed. “I mean I don’t have anything to grow from, my growing stage was middle school.” Lavender dug into her frozen yogurt, “Back where I’m from down in Georgia, I went to a great high school.” A soft smile came up on Lavender’s face, “I I was in the middle of the social ladder, but everyone was nice. I had a great boyfriend, Tom, he was wonderful. Everyone was nice to each other, not that much bullying.” Lavender took a few bites of her yogurt. “Sophmore year, my mother told me that we were moving to Lima. She went to school here, grew up here, wanted me and my brother to have the same experience. My brother went off to college after a year, and I’m stuck here.” Lavender sighed. “I just didn’t want to deal with all the drama that arose at the beginning of the year, so I made myself invisible, focused on my work. It protected me.”
Donnie laughed at her comment on his tastes and listened intently to Lavender’s story. She seemed like she missed Georgia a lot. “A school without bullying, huh? Seems too good to be true if you ask me,” Donnie said. “What with all the hierarchy at McKinley. It’s too bad that you didn’t make too many friends when you first came here. That’s one of those things where the longer you put it off, the harder it gets.”
Donnie took a bite of yogurt. “You know,” he said. “I’ve lived here my whole life, and I still don’t know most of the people at school. I know of them, but I never took the time to get to know them.” Donnie frowned then. “Some of them I don’t know if I want to. I’ve managed to keep my head down and avoid the bullying and drama for the last three years, but this years gonna be a challenge.”
A grin slowly spread across his face. “But it promises to be a very interesting time! And it’ll all work out in the end. For both of us, I’m sure.” He hoped he was being encouraging or something, because Lavender had seemed like she really wanted to make this year something special.
